Dear Readers and Writers,
Today, a simple observation inspired me to share my
thoughts. There is just something about
the passage of time, the turning of the seasons, the ever nearing end of yet
another year. There is something about
bad weather and the decreasing light that makes me want to hole up in my cave
and write. I wonder how many of you
The dragonflies dance in the dying light. A snick sounds loud in the silence of nature,
a moment before light floods the area in front of my porch. The croak of tree frogs picks up in rhythm
and tempo. The damp scent of rain weighs
heavy in the air. The fireflies flash
signals from the field. Night birds
screech as they turn on wing in the sky to swoop down on their prey hidden
among the freshly mown grass.
A plump moth grazes the wisps of hair at my nape on its way
to the light, but is snagged by a fleshy winged, gliding creature. Another daring bat casts a shadow as it flies
in for its supper, and I decide to retreat to my desk to capture the simplistic
splendor of nature.
Enjoy the wonders in your world.
Happy Reading and Writing,
Carolyn Haven
